Doug Brown, M.B.A., President and CEO, has spearheaded DentalCare Partners’ remarkable growth since 1995. Before joining DCP, he worked for an international accounting firm, founded a management consulting business and held senior management positions at a number of mid-sized and Fortune 500 companies. Throughout his career, he has focused on multi-unit retail and service organizations. He received both his B.S. and M.B.A. from Duke University. Brown is active in the American Academy of Dental Group Practices and The Executive Committee, an international organization of CEOs.

Kenneth T. Misener, Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, has a proven track record in health services management and policy, having served as COO for some of Northeast Ohio’s top medical centers. This experience makes him extremely well versed in working with doctors and providing them with first-class business and staffing support. Misener received his master’s in health services management and policy and his bachelor’s in business administration from Ohio State University. He is very active outside the office, serving numerous organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Red Cross and Baldwin-Wallace College.

Edward H. Meckler, D.M.D., Chairman, founded the first Sears Family Dental Center in 1981, providing the vision for what DentalCare Partners is today: one of the largest group practice organizations of its kind in the country. He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and his D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University with a post-graduate internship in periodontics. Today, Meckler provides valuable counsel to the management team. He also remains very active in the industry, serving as a board member to the visiting committee of the Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Ohio Dental Association Service Corporation. Other involvements include serving as a delegate to the Ohio Dental Association, a member and past delegate of the American Dental Association, a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, a member of the American Academy of Dental Group Practices and the FDI World Dental Federation.

Charles J. Zasso, D.D.S., Partner, Senior Dental Director, received his dental degree from Northwestern University in 1988. He graduated with honors, ranking in the top 10 of his class. After dental school, he continued his post-graduate training at the General Practice Residency Program at Bay Pines, Florida. The residency program offered a comprehensive year of dental and medical rotations. In 1992, he joined DentalCare Partners and currently practices in the Chicago area. He also oversees quality assurance and doctor training for 17 Sears Dental offices in the Midwest. In addition to being a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.

James Smith, D.M.D., M.B.A., M.H.A., Partner, Senior Dental Director, brings a wealth of knowledge to the organization. He holds three advanced degrees form the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University, has owned and operated his own dental practice, served as the assistant chief medical officer at a hospital and is now a partner with DentalCare Partners. He practices in the Pittsburgh area and consults with doctors and staff members in DCP’s Eastern Region.

Anthony Spann, D.D.S., Partner, Senior Dental Director, has played an instrumental role in the development of the Cleveland practices since joining the group in 1985. He started with DentalCare Partners just after graduating from Case Western Reserve University. At the time, he was working part-time while he worked to establish his own practice. He found that his patient base at his Sears Dental practice was growing so rapidly that he closed his private practice and began working with the DCP team full-time. Today, he is a partner and one of the top producing dentists in the network.

Sheila Kelly, Vice President, Practice Services and Marketing, has played a crucial role in DentalCare Partners’ growth since joining the company in 1992, working with her team of regional consultants to streamline the business side of our practices as well as contributing to a progressive marketing campaign. Prior to DCP, she worked for Telecom and the State of Florida. Kelly began her career as a hygienist after graduating from the University of Alabama.

Deborah Hammert, Director of Recruitment, has been involved in practice management and consulting since 1989. Since joining DentalCare Partners in 1999, she has recruited some of the organization’s top professional talent. Earlier in her career, she served as the administrative director of the department of dental medicine for a hospital in Pittsburgh and was also an administrator of a dental practice in Pittsburgh. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in mathematics.
